Popular native sage loved for the strong fragrance produced by its lavender colored flowers. Hummingbirds and butterflies enjoy this plant.

Salvia Clevelandii ‘Aromas’ is a hybrid of two California native Salvias – Cleveland Sage (Salvia Clevelandii) and Purple Sage (Salvia Leucophylla). Like its parents it is very drought tolerant and grows well in hot and sunny areas. Sages are well loved for the strong fragrances they bring into our environment and Salvia Clevelandii ‘Aromas’ is a stand out. The leaves have their own delicate scent and I’m excited to sniff the flowers when our specimen blooms closer to summer time.

Aromas Cleveland Sage produces long lasting blooms in late spring to early summer. They are lavender in color and are attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. The plant will grow as tall as 4′ with a similar spread. It grows well in containers and while it is considered drought tolerant it will handle occasional summer water. This fast growing sage will thrive in full sun or part shade.
